Answers to the Frequently Asked Questions About Fibrex®

Renewal by Andersen® of Rapid City, your local provider of window and door replacement services, takes pride in offering high-quality replacement windows made of the patented Fibrex® material. Our parent company, Andersen Corporation, developed this proprietary composite material so we can manufacture better window frames and sashes. Read on as we answer some of the frequently asked questions about this amazing window material.

What Is Fibrex?

Developed by Andersen Corporation, Fibrex is a material composed of reclaimed wood fibers combined with a thermoplastic polymer. These two materials give Fibrex its toughness and stability that are akin to natural wood but with the low-maintenance features of vinyl.

How Does It Stack Against Other Window Materials?

For windows and French doors installation contractors like us, Fibrex material is the perfect choice for your window replacement because of its numerous advantages over other window materials. For instance, its strength allows us to make sashes and frames narrower and put a premium on better views with more glass. Vinyl windows, meanwhile, can expand and contract more when exposed to temperature fluctuations, causing the material to bow and break the glass seal. Also, Fibrex doesn’t have to be scraped or painted, unlike fiberglass window frames that need to be painted and undergo regular but extensive upkeep.

Can All Window Types Be Made of Fibrex?

Yes! The composition of the Fibrex material allows it to be made into all types of windows. Apart from your conventional double-hung and casement windows, Renewal by Andersen also offers specialty windows, which are custom-made window units that are either curved, circular, or polygonal in shape.

Is Fibrex Covered by Warranties?

All products from Renewal by Andersen are warranted under a fully transferable limited warranty that covers parts, labor, and original installations services. This includes a 10-year limited warranty for components other than glass, including all Fibrex frames and sashes. These are warranted not to flake, rust, blister, peel, crack, pit, corrode, or rot, under normal use, for 10 years from the original date of installation.
