6 Ways to Keep Your Home Mess-Free During Window Replacement

A window replacement project is a great way to give your home a new look and add value. However, it can be daunting to think about the mess that comes with such an undertaking. The good news is that with proper planning, you can keep your home mess-free during the entire process. In this post, a windows and sliding patio doors installer will discuss six ways to keep your home mess-free during your window replacement.

1. Clean the installation area beforehand. Vacuum the area near the installation site as much as possible to eliminate dust and dirt particles.

2. Move furniture. Depending on where the windows are located in relation to furniture pieces like couches or chairs, you may need to relocate those items before installing new windows. Also, consider covering floors with drop cloths or plastic sheeting, if necessary.

3. Seal off the work area. Seal off areas where windows will be installed using painter’s tape or another barrier material.

4. Set up a dumpster for debris. Set up a dumpster near contractors’ work. Make sure it has enough space for the debris they generate while the contractors do their job.

5. Communicate with your contractor. Talk to the contractor beforehand and ask them how they intend to go about keeping things clean and tidy throughout the duration of the job. Have an open dialogue and let them know of your concerns and specific details you would like to be addressed, especially regarding the removal of materials used and the disposal of debris created.

6. Clean up after the installation. Once the window installation is complete, immediately cleaning up is essential to prevent further mess. Start by removing all drop cloths or plastic sheeting used during the project. Be sure to sweep away any debris left behind. If there are any lingering dust or dirt particles on furniture pieces, consider scheduling professional cleaning services to restore your home to its pre-renovation state.
